Comparison
Jobber is a good general field service tool. Thousands of trades run on it, and if you are on it today it is probably doing most of what you asked it to do. SailorSkills Pro is built for one trade: hull diving. The differences between the two are almost exactly the things a dive operation spends its day on.
Below is every capability we could check, 50 of them, with the verdict stated plainly in both directions. Where Jobber has something Pro does not, we say so and leave it on the page.
Things a general field service tool is not shaped to do
Parity, often in a shape built for boats
The working core is there, the polish is not
Jobber has it and we do not. Ask and we build it
One more, late fees, neither product automates.
Everything else on this page is detail. These three are the ones a dive operation feels every single day.
Jobber stores a video on the job, but the only way to get it to the owner is a 10 MB email attachment, and the customer-facing media library sits on a $499 per month tier. In Pro the clip streams inside the receipt and on the boat's page, and the bill waits until it is ready to watch.
Jobber prices a line as quantity times unit price, so per-foot work means typing the feet and hand-adding a growth line every visit. Pro computes the hull rate per foot, the growth surcharge, boat-type and propeller surcharges, anode parts and labor, the minimum invoice, and the per-boat ceiling from the log you just made.
Jobber tracks timesheets and hands payroll to a separate payroll partner. Pro attributes each finished boat to the diver who did it, splits the revenue at their share, and prints the pay statement, so nobody rebuilds it in a spreadsheet on Sunday.
Grouped the way the work is grouped. The tables scroll sideways on a phone.
| What you do all day | Jobber | SailorSkills Pro | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recurring visits | Weekly, every two weeks, monthly, or a custom repeat. One job covers one property. | A service interval per boat, in months, feeding a board that flags every boat overdue or coming due. | Both do this |
| Dispatch board | A drag-and-drop calendar with color coding, a multi-crew view, and a find-a-time helper that accounts for drive time. | One drag board per day, with day ordering, past days you can still fill in, and missed boats that stay draggable. | Both do this |
| Route order | Reorders unscheduled visits by driving distance, up to seven days out, for admins only. | Day ordering plus drive-time modeling between marinas. Marina aware rather than street-address aware. | Both do this |
| Marina slip maps | None. A boat is a property with a street address. | Dock-layout maps that put each boat on its actual slip, so a new diver finds the boat without calling you. | Pro is stronger |
| How long the job takes | You type a duration on each visit. | Pro learns how long each boat takes for each diver out of your own completed work, and sizes the day from that. | Pro is stronger |
| GPS and vehicle tracking | Location stamps on timer and visit events, plus live vehicle tracking through a hardware partner. | None. Pro does not use location anywhere. | Not yet in Pro |
| Time tracking | Visit and general timers, manual entries, an approval queue, and a spreadsheet export. Automatic timers by location on the top plan. | A punch clock whose marks are permanent, corrections that require a written reason, and a day view of actual time against expected. | Both do this |
| Job forms and checklists | A form builder: text, dropdowns, checkboxes, numbers, photos, dates, signatures, required fields, and a PDF to the customer. | A wrap-up checklist on each visit. No form builder, and no customer-facing form. | Pro does part of it |
| Assigning the crew | Assign a team per job or per visit, with a push notification when it changes. | Delegate boats to a diver, or post a boat a diver can claim. Included in Pro Team. | Both do this |
Not yet means we have not built it. Say you need it on the call and it moves up the list.
| What you do all day | Jobber | SailorSkills Pro | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| One customer, many boats | Properties under a customer, each with an address and custom fields. There is no equipment record, so a boat is only an address. | The boat is the record: length, type, propellers, anode manifest, condition history, video history, and who owned it before. Two or more boats behind one payer group into a fleet. | Pro is stronger |
| What the customer can do alone | A customer hub: sign in without a password, approve and sign a quote, pay a deposit, pay by card or bank transfer, leave a tip, keep a card on file, and see the last five and next five visits. | A page per boat with service history, condition, and streaming video, plus a hosted link to pay. No saved wallet, no quote approval, and no requests from the page. | Pro does part of it |
| Video from the visit | Photos, video, and files are stored on the job, but delivering a video means a 10 MB email attachment, and the customer-facing media library sits on a $499 per month tier. | The visit video streams inside the receipt email and on the boat's own page within minutes of the upload, and the bill waits until the video is ready to watch. | Pro is stronger |
| Notes and follow-ups | Internal notes with attachments on the customer, the property, and the job. | Notes on the boat, plus scheduled check-ins that surface on the dispatch board when they come due. | Both do this |
| Tags and custom fields | Customer tags, lead source, and custom fields on customers and properties. | None. | Not yet in Pro |
Not yet means we have not built it. Say you need it on the call and it moves up the list.
| What you do all day | Jobber | SailorSkills Pro | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quotes | Templates, signature in the customer hub or on the phone, required deposits, automated follow-ups, and a quote drafted from an inbound request. | A range quote with a checkout link, sent by email. No signature and no deposit. | Pro does part of it |
| Online booking and quote requests | Request forms with photos, bookable services with buffers, a service area, and automatic assignment. | A public booking page under your own link, and a request queue you work through in the app. | Both do this |
| How the price is calculated | Quantity times unit price. Per-foot pricing means typing the feet, and growth or condition is a line you add by hand every time. | Per-foot hull rate, growth surcharge, boat-type and propeller surcharges, anode parts and labor, inspection rates, a minimum invoice, and a per-boat price ceiling, all computed from the log you just made at the dock. | Pro is stronger |
| Promotions and referrals | Customer referral links with credit applied automatically, inside a $99 per month marketing add-on. Discounts are manual line items. | Promo codes, serialized vouchers, and a bounty for a diver who brings in work. No customer referral program. | Pro does part of it |
| What you do all day | Jobber | SailorSkills Pro | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charging after the visit | Only with autopay and a saved card: one attempt on schedule, with no retry. Otherwise a finished visit just raises a reminder for you to invoice. | The card on file is charged for that visit once the video is ready. A failed charge can go out as a hosted invoice, and the reminder schedule retries on its own. | Pro is stronger |
| One invoice per customer per month | Batch create and batch send: one invoice per customer covering every job across every property, from the web app. | Not yet. A numbered monthly statement per customer, printable, emailable, and payable outside the app, is coming this fall. | Not yet in Pro |
| Ways to pay | Card, bank transfer at 1%, tap to pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, split payments, and tips, at 2.9% plus 30 cents. | Card through Stripe and hosted invoice links. No tap to pay and no tips. | Pro does part of it |
| Payments taken outside the app | Record cash, check, or another manual payment against an invoice. | Record Zelle, Venmo, check, or cash against the visit, and it stays reachable even when card charging is turned off. | Both do this |
| Chasing what is past due | Two automated reminders, up to 90 days past the due date, on the same channel the invoice went out on. | A reminder cadence you set, automatic retry of a failed charge, installment plans, an automatic pause, and delivery confirmation from the email provider, so a bounce is visible instead of silent. | Pro is stronger |
| Late fees | Not built in. Their own guidance is to add them by hand. | Not built in either. | Neither |
| Accounting sync | One-way sync to QuickBooks Online or Xero: customers, items, invoices, payments, and timesheets. | Not yet. Pro has no accounting export, so your bookkeeper still works from Stripe and your statements. | Not yet in Pro |
| Whose merchant account | Payments run through Jobber's own processing. You cannot bring your own Stripe account. | Your own Stripe account, connected to Pro. The money lands in your account on your payout schedule. | Both do this |
| The receipt the customer gets | An invoice PDF and email with line items. | A receipt email with the condition read, the video, the anodes replaced, and your own sending address and branding. | Pro is stronger |
| Parts and inventory | A products and services list. No stock counts and no cost of goods. | An anode catalog, a per-boat anode manifest, stock counts, purchase receipts read from a photo, and what each anode actually earned you. | Pro is stronger |
Not yet means we have not built it. Say you need it on the call and it moves up the list.
| What you do all day | Jobber | SailorSkills Pro | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visit reminders | An automated email or text before the visit. | Email reminders you preview and send. Text sending exists in Pro but is not wired to reminders yet. | Both do this |
| On-my-way text | One tap from the phone app. | None. | Not yet in Pro |
| Two-way texting | A dedicated number, a message center, and picture messaging. | Pro can send and receive text messages, but there is no inbox for you to work out of yet. | Pro does part of it |
| Check-in after the job | An automated message once a job closes. | Scheduled follow-ups on the boat that surface on the dispatch board. | Both do this |
| Review requests | Google review requests when a visit completes or an invoice is paid, with two follow-ups, inside a $99 per month add-on. | None. | Not yet in Pro |
| Email campaigns | Templates, segments, and one-off or triggered sends, inside the same $99 per month add-on. No text campaigns. | None. | Not yet in Pro |
| Who the email comes from | Email goes out through Jobber under your business name. | Your own sending address and reply-to, with your domain verified, and every outgoing email editable before it sends. | Both do this |
Not yet means we have not built it. Say you need it on the call and it moves up the list.
| What you do all day | Jobber | SailorSkills Pro | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Money owed to you | Aged receivables, customer balances, bad debt, and projected income. | Outstanding by customer with age buckets, the reason each one is stuck, and whether the customer was ever actually notified. | Both do this |
| Payroll and pay statements | Timesheets by employee. Payroll itself runs through a separate payroll partner. | Payroll in the app: each diver's share of the hull, anode labor, an equipment fee, adjustments, carryover, owner profit and loss, and a statement you can print or email. | Pro is stronger |
| Job profitability | A profit bar per job, with automatic costing from supplier invoices on the top tier. | An efficiency view, expected time against actual time, and margin per anode. | Both do this |
| Custom reports and exports | A fixed set of reports, with export on some of them. No report builder. | No report builder either. Inventory exports to a spreadsheet, and an AI assistant can answer questions against your workspace directly. | Pro does part of it |
| What you do all day | Jobber | SailorSkills Pro | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| The app the diver uses | Timers, checklists, notes and media, signature, invoicing and collecting payment, navigation, and on-my-way. | The day board, the marina map, logging a service, wrap-up, time, training, performance, pay, and capturing a new customer right at the dock. The field app is the product, not a companion to it. | Both do this |
| Working without signal | Timers, checklists, and notes sync later. Automatic location timers and reports do not. | A submitted log queues on the phone and replays when signal returns. A lost response can still replay as a duplicate, which we are fixing. | Both do this |
| Shared tablet in the truck | Everyone signs in as themselves. | A PIN sign-in on a shared tablet that opens a real session for that diver, and locks out after repeated wrong tries. | Pro is stronger |
| Capturing the video | Inside the main app, up to 750 MB per file. | A dedicated uploader app that signs in from the web app, uploads straight to the video service, and catches a camera whose clock is set wrong before it corrupts the record. | Pro is stronger |
| AI assistant | A voice and chat assistant in beta: create quotes, jobs, and invoices, and reschedule by voice. | Claude can read your schedule, boats, billing, and stock, and take actions such as leaving a note or setting a deadline on a boat. | Both do this |
| AI phone answering | A round-the-clock answering service that books and escalates, as a $29 per month add-on. | None. | Not yet in Pro |
| Automations you build yourself | A builder limited to quote and invoice date triggers, with tag and line-item conditions. | Purpose-built automations instead of a builder: the reminder cadence, the automatic pause, and holding a bill until the video is ready. | Pro does part of it |
| Reading receipts and voice notes | Supplier invoice scanning on the top tier, and voice commands in beta. | Purchase receipts read from a photo, and a spoken memo turned into a structured service log. | Both do this |
| Public API | A public API with sign-in, webhooks, and a developer center. | An AI endpoint with scoped keys and an audit log, rather than a general-purpose API. | Pro does part of it |
| Zapier | Yes. | None. | Not yet in Pro |
| Roles and seats | Users scoped by permission, one to fifteen seats depending on the plan, and $29 for each extra seat. | Owner, admin, and diver roles. Divers never see customer contact details. Solo and Team plans, with no per-seat charge inside your plan. | Both do this |
Not yet means we have not built it. Say you need it on the call and it moves up the list.
Software only. Card processing is separate on both sides, and on Pro it lands in your own Stripe account at Stripe rates.

The shape of the bill matters more than the exact figure. On Jobber, texting, campaigns, review requests, phone answering, and every seat past the ones your plan includes are separate charges stacked on top of the plan. Pro Team is $199, one line, with nothing to stack on it. We are not printing a total for the Grow plan because we could not confirm its monthly price from their own pricing page, and we will not print a number we could not check. Read the current figures there and do the arithmetic yourself. Jobber plan and add-on prices here were read from getjobber.com in September 2026, and prices change. getjobber.com/pricing
We are a small, agile studio dedicated to the hull diving industry. If Jobber does something you need and Pro does not, tell us and we build it. That is also why the gaps above are on this page instead of buried: you already run the other product and you would find them in week one anyway.
We walk through the app with your boats and your pricing, and you can bring the list of what you would miss.
Jobber is a trademark of Jobber Software Inc. We name it here only to compare, and we do not use their logo or branding. Everything on the Jobber side of this page comes from their own pricing page, help center, and product updates, read in September 2026. Three things we could not confirm from their documentation are left off this page entirely rather than guessed at.
