Privacy Policy

Draft — pending review

This draft has not been reviewed by an attorney. It is posted so SailorSkills Pro has a real Privacy Policy in place while the onboarding wizard collects account and payment details; treat the specifics below as a starting point, not a final legal document.

1. Scope

This policy describes how SailorSkills Pro (operated by Brian Cline, doing business as SailorSkills, based in California) collects, uses, and shares information when you use sailorskills.com and pro.sailorskills.com as a service provider (“you”), and how it handles information about your customers that you enter into the app.

2. What we collect

Your account information: name, email address, business name, and password (stored hashed by our authentication provider, never in plain text).

Team member information: if you invite workspace members (e.g. divers, office staff), we store their name, email, role, and — for shared-tablet use — a hashed PIN.

Your customers’ data: boat details, contact information, service history, and service photos or videos that you or your team enter or capture while using the app. This data belongs to you, not to us — see our Terms of Service.

Payment information:your subscription is billed through Stripe. Card numbers and other sensitive payment details are entered directly into Stripe’s hosted checkout and never touch our servers; we only receive a payment token, subscription status, and billing metadata from Stripe.

Usage data: basic technical data (such as request logs) generated by using the app, used for security and troubleshooting.

3. How we use it

  • To operate the service: scheduling, service logging, inventory, and billing features you use;
  • To bill your subscription and, where you enable customer billing, to help you charge your own customers;
  • To send transactional email (receipts, confirmations, service notices) on your behalf or ours;
  • To host and stream service photos and videos you upload;
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot issues;
  • To improve the product.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information or your customers’ information. We share data only with the service providers (“sub-processors”) that power SailorSkills Pro, each bound to process data only on our instructions:

  • Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider. All application data (accounts, boats, service logs, photos/videos metadata) is stored here.
  • Stripe — payment processing for your SailorSkills Pro subscription (and, where enabled, your own customers’ card-on-file billing). Stripe handles and stores card data directly; we do not.
  • Resend — delivery of transactional email (receipts, notices, confirmation links).
  • Cloudflare Stream — hosting and streaming of service videos.
  • Vercel — application hosting and infrastructure.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SailorSkills, our users, or others.

5. Data retention

We retain your account and your customers’ data for as long as your account is active, so your service history stays intact. If you cancel your subscription or close your account, we retain data for a limited period in case you reactivate, then delete or anonymize it, except where we need to keep records for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes.

6. Your choices and deletion requests

You can update your account information from within the app at any time. To request deletion of your account or your customers’ data, or to ask what data we hold, email brian@sailorskills.com. We will verify the request and respond within a reasonable time.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect data, including encryption in transit, row-level tenant isolation in our database so one provider’s data isn’t visible to another, and access controls on team member accounts. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children’s privacy

SailorSkills Pro is a business tool intended for adult service providers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice (for example, by email or an in-app notice) before the changes take effect.
